Pilot Project Information
The Pilot Project Program is an integral part of Center activities. Seed money is used to support four major goals:
- To support new investigators who show promise of becoming valuable members of the CRED.
- To allow established Center investigators to conduct exploratory projects of a highly innovative nature that are likely to attract new outside funding.
- To allow established investigators outside of the field of environmental health sciences to apply their specialized talents to problems within the field.
- To encourage research in new directions that are in line with Center initiatives.
In addition to the regular Pilot Project program, a new Transition Pilot Project Award will be implemented in the next funding period. This program is specifically designated for junior investigators below the rank of assistant professor. More specifically, instructors and senior postdoctoral fellows beyond their third year of training will be eligible for this $30,000 Pilot Project award. The purpose of this special Transition Pilot Project is to help young investigators establish a track record so they can compete for independent faculty positions.
To apply for a pilot project please see the application materials in the sidebar on the upper right.
